At the time Apple announced they'd discontinue Aperture, Adobe implemented an import plugin for Lightroom, to help users with the switch from Aperture. If you don't want to use Aperture anymore, then Adobe Lightroom would be the easiest path. I have it running on my 10.11.2 without any issues. That's the last version Apple has released before Aperture was discontinued. You'd need to update Aperture to version 3.6 to make sure it works with El Capitan.
